1. General - The hangar is for the exclusive
use of members of the Wiltshire Microlight Club
(WMC). It is the responsibility of club members
storing their property in the hangar to make themselves
familiar with these terms and rules which are
subject to change from time to time.
2. Liability - Although all reasonable
steps will be taken to ensure the security and
safety of all aircraft stored, each aircraft owner
agrees to sign to accept that his/her aircraft
is stored at Yatesbury Field at his/her own risk
and should satisfy him/herself that the facilities
are adequate for the purpose. WMC, its employees,
associates or servants cannot be held responsible
for any damage or loss however caused unless gross
negligence can be proven.
3. Insurance - It is the responsibility
of each aircraft owner to insure against ground
risks and, although not compulsory, it is strongly
advised. When insuring make sure to get the name
of the broker and tell him where you are operating
from and that the hangar is locked and protected
by CCTV.
4. Handling Aircraft in the Hangar - Although
movements in the hangar are recorded by CCTV aircraft
owners are strongly advised to get help to watch
over the removal of wings so as to minimise the
risk of accident or damage. Any damage that does
occur to your or anyone else's property must be
reported in the hangar movements book.
5. Accident reporting (hangar movements)
- The Hangar Movements Book is located on the
flight planning bench. Report any damage, however
slight, in the book together with time, date and
nature of incident. Include any mitigation and
contact details (phone or e mail) so that enquiries
can be made. Remember you are being recorded on
CCTV whilst inside the hangar! Take extreme care
and NEVER handle an aircraft without a witness.
6. Hangar Rash - Common sense and care
will prevent most cases but if it does occur to
your aircraft IT'S YOUR PROBLEM! You can help
to avoid damage to other aircraft by purchasing
an inexpensive dolly system which makes your wing
easy to move. Physical precautions against damage
i.e. trike cover, spat and prop protection and
wing tip protectors are also strongly advised.
7. Birds/Vermin/Weather - All reasonable
steps have been taken to protect your property
whilst inside the hangar. An ultra sonic bird
scarer which also repels vermin to a certain extent
is installed in the hangar. Buy yourself a mouse
trap (preferably one doesn't need bait) but do
not spread poison on the ground. Do not leave
food in your aircraft! In extreme weather it is
worth visiting the hangar to see if you can help
to mitigate damage as opposed to relying on insurance.
8. Members of the public (non-club members)
- Members of the public or visitors should be
discouraged from entering the hangar unless accompanied
and/or helping. They are trespassing and could
also walk away with your GPS! It is recommended
that any shiny magpie type items be taken away
with you. If you have arranged for WMC staff to
turn the engine over while you are away stow the
ignition key on the aircraft out of-sight! NOT
IN THE IGNITION!
9. Trustees - A trustee is a person who
is prepared to accept responsibility for hangar
security in absence of a member of WMC staff.
They must ensure everything is locked and that
the alarm is set before leaving. Trustees will
be allocated a key for a short period. Doors should
be kept closed if the area is unattended. Understand
your responsibilities before asking to be a trustee!
10. Notice of removal - TWO MONTHS notice
of removal is required. If no notice is given
you will be charged for two months. Use the notice
form and post or hand it to Tony Hughes.
11. Payment - All hangar fees should be
paid in advance. You will receive a 10% discount
if you pay six months in advance and a 15% discount
if you pay one year in advance. You will be charged
interest at 5% per week for non-payment and your
wing may be removed and/or held against payment.
Preferred payment method is by standing order
or direct debit to be credited by the first of
the month, two months in advance. Information
on storage accounts is kept in the office.
